Health Insurance Reform

As efforts on health insurance reform continue to take shape, I want to make sure we take steps to significantly lower health insurance costs for consumers, allow individuals to continue to choose their own plans and doctors, and protect small businesses from having to shoulder an unfair burden. At the same time, any health insurance reform effort must be paid for.

Creating Clean Energy Jobs

Central Florida is poised to be a leader in America’s rapidly growing clean energy economy. With unemployment at an all-time high, we need to build a new economic foundation that expands job opportunities. The clean energy industry has the potential to revitalize our economy and create thousands of sustainable, high-quality jobs.

Economic Recovery

As your congresswoman, I am focused on the individuals hurt by this recession: the families who are struggling to make ends meet, the men and women who are fighting to keep their jobs, and the small business owners that are desperate to keep their companies functioning. These are the faces of our community and they need help.

Education

The strength of our educational system is critical for America's future. We must help our schools provide a 21st Century education that will make us stronger, more productive and more competitive.

Helping Families Save Their Homes

Central Florida’s foreclosure crisis is getting worse every day and it is important to take action now. Florida has been hit especially hard by foreclosures and more than 400,000 new foreclosures are expected for 2009 if no action is taken.

NASA and Space Exploration

America must continue to be the world leader in space exploration. Kennedy Space Center is an economic engine for the 24th district and all of Central Florida.

I have made a commitment to restoring our core values of integrity, accountability and responsibility in Congress. That is why my office will conduct its business with the utmost openness and accountability. I will post my daily schedule, any appropriations requests, and my votes right here on my website to ensure the level of honesty and transparency that you expect and deserve.

Relief for Small Business

Small businesses are the engines for job creation in Central Florida and we must do all that we can to support them through these difficult economic times. Small businesses have accounted for about 70% of new jobs created over the last decade and it is vital that we spur new businesses, new jobs, and new growth to keep Central Florida on the road to economic recovery.

I support tax cuts for working families and small businesses to create jobs, provide relief, and boost Florida's economy.

Veterans

I am dedicated to providing support for our brave men and women in uniform. We have a duty to only send our troops into harm's way when absolutely necessary and to do everything possible to support them upon their return.
